The Protocol Security Research Team and the Ecosystem Funding Initiative at the Ethereum Foundation are proud to announce the launch of the ETH Rangers program to help incentivize Public Goods Security Work for the Ethereum Ecosystem.

    Public Goods Security Work

ETH Rangers offers stipends to support individuals who dedicate time to work on public goods security efforts within the Ethereum ecosystem. Over six months, participants will be selected to each receive $25,000 USD.

What type of work is considered Public Goods Security work?

Public Goods Security work includes efforts to enhance the security and resilience of the Ethereum ecosystem. This can involve activities like vulnerability research, creating educational material, pro-bono incident handling or audits, or developing tools and frameworks that benefit the community. The goal is to support projects and individuals dedicated to securing Ethereum’s infrastructure and fostering a robust, trustless environment for all.

Can I apply if I’m currently employed in public goods security?

Yes, current employment in public goods security does not disqualify you from applying. We are looking for individuals who can dedicate a substantial amount of time to advancing Ethereum’s public goods security, whether they are employed or independent.

Applications are now open at ETHRangers.com, and will stay open until December 31st when the selection process begins.

    Important Dates

    • Nov 21, 2024: Wave-1 applications open.
    • Dec 31, 2024: Deadline for Wave-1 applications.
    • Jan 20, 2025: Recipients selected.
    • July 20, 2025: Final work reports due, followed by payment of the remaining stipend.

Interested in working full time in Public Good Security?

The Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Security Research team is now looking for two Security Engineers. If you feel that this might be a better fit and you’d like to get involved, apply today!
